I believe we're shaped not only by the people we love, but by the places that call to us. Every journey leaves us a little different than when we arrived. That's why travel has always been at the heart of Unhada.
Every collection begins with a place, a story, or a feeling I couldn't leave behind. A temple in Thailand. An antique discovered halfway across the world. A color palette borrowed from a distant landscape. A philosophy learned in another culture. Jewelry becomes more than something beautiful to wear. It becomes a way to carry those experiences with you.
Unhada’s Wayfinder Earrings were designed for the woman willing to step into the unknown. They aren't just statement earrings—they're a reminder to trust your own compass. This idea was enforced to me recently, while in Hawaiʻi,, when, a local woman shared two words with me: Mālama Pono. She placed her hand over her heart and explained that it means to care for yourself, to live with balance, integrity, and respect. It wasn't just a translation—it was a way of living. That moment stayed with me. The places we visit don't just give us photographs. If we're paying attention, they give us wisdom. They remind us to slow down, to notice, to honor beauty, and to carry those lessons home.
To me, jewelry should do the same. A piece should be more than something beautiful you wear. It should become a talisman—a reminder of who you are, where you've been, and the woman you're becoming. That's the spirit behind Unhada's Rails Series. Inspired by antique railroad chains and the endless tracks connecting one destination to the next, the collection celebrates the journey itself. The gemstones echo destinations both real and imagined, reminding us that the stops along the way often become more meaningful than the final destination.

More than twenty years ago, a trip to Bangkok become more than a stop, but, it changed the course of my life. I thought I was simply going on vacation. Instead, I fell in the city that would eventually become the birthplace of Unhada. I returned to study gemology at GIA, immersed myself in Asian art, architecture, spirituality, and craftsmanship, and unknowingly began building the creative language that still defines my collections today.
Every place leaves us with something different. Thailand gave me a reverence for craftsmanship and quiet beauty. Costa Rica taught me Pura Vida—to slow down and appreciate life's simple moments. More recently, Hawaiʻi gifted me a phrase that has become a compass for how I want to live: Mālama Pono. My end destination was supposed to be gemologist who specialized in antique jewelry, but my journey after enrolling in the GIA, led my elsewhere…from NY to ASIA, where, I went and stayed for a while. Traveling is more than simply collect stamps in a passport. We collect pieces of ourselves. Every Unhada piece carries a little of that journey—a place, a philosophy, a memory, or a lesson gathered somewhere in the world. When you wear it, you're not just wearing jewelry. You're carrying a story, a reminder, and perhaps a little piece of the world with you, too.
