A New Year & New Rituals

Happy New Year to all you wonderful magic seekers!
The ending and beginning of a new year has always felt special to me. Across cultures, this threshold is marked with ritual—small acts that carry hope, faith, and intention into what's next.
Before I was diagnosed with celiac while living in Bangkok, I adopted the Japanese ritual of eating soba noodles to welcome the New Year—long strands symbolizing longevity and resilience. In Thailand, rituals honor renewal, cleansing, and the gentle release of what no longer serves. These practices differ, but their purpose is the same: to ground us, to remind us what we believe in, and to help us step forward with intention.
It got me thinking about the importance of ritual—not just routine, but devotion. Ritual reinforces faith. It anchors us. It reminds us that magic still exists, even in the everyday.
Here's where the story get interesting!
Over the last few years, something unexpected seems to be happening and all of it connects back to the idea of rituals and how they ground us.
People who had never been interested in jewelry started investing in my work. Truly—zero interest in owning any jewelry, EVER!
Until Unhada came along.
And strangely for these women, with these newly adopted pieces of “wearable magic,” came important ritual.
One incredible client who is also an artist, began a ritual of placing her Unhada piece in a special bowl each night. She felt it restored the energy of the jewelry, allowing it to recharge—so when she wore it the next day, it empowered her in return.
Another client, a working mom, was someone who never switched or layered jewelry, and still does not. She received a custom necklace for a milestone birthday. and now, she never takes it off. I designed it to move seamlessly from day to night. She told me it makes her feel loved. And she reminded herself each morning, in the mirror, every, single, day.
I often call my jewelry wearable magic. But really, it exists to remind people of the magic they already carry within themselves.
Jewelry isn't an object.
It holds meaning.
It carries memory.
And yes, it invites ritual.
A necklace isn't just a necklace—it can be a portal.
A ring isn't just a ring—it's a promise, even one made to yourself.
Earrings aren't just adornment—they're reminders to move from ordinary towards enchanted.
That emerald bracelet doesn't simply rest on your wrist—its green hue connects back to the heart chakra, and offers love where and when you may feel something is missing.
This is why Unhada is different. I take great pride in creating pieces that hold messages, that write stories, that hold magic and guide rather than simple, decorate.
The tennis necklace worn by fifty thousand others may be beautiful—but it won't take you on a new path. It won't bottle your magic or remind you that it exists. It keeps you where you are.
As we step into this new year, I invite you to reflect:
What resolutions might take you out of your comfort zone?
What moments of magic from the past year are worth bottling and keeping close?
I don't think simply because a new year begins, that anything should be decided. In fact, it shouldn't. I hope you take some time in this first month of the year to determine what kind of magic you want in your life. What is missing? What do you want more of? I have found lately, that when I dream, and envision my dream, so often, it comes to life! I wrote the story in my head last year that I wanted to really travel a lot, because I still felt so burnt out after Covid and felt both myself and my family needed to explore, and I did! I never traveled more, and from the red rocks of Arizona, to the lavender fields of France, I loved every minute of it.
And my wish for you is to receive whatever you wish, with the help of my jewelry to remind you it is all possible.
May 2026 be intentional.
May it be balanced.
May it be enchanted.
May it be filled with magic
I know my year will be: More magical
And: As an artist, that I will try to make even more of a statement as I pass through 20 years of designing for Unhada.
My sincerest gratitude for letting me work my magic and being the light that guides me towards it.
